How to Build an Awesome Travel Plan with Google Maps

I use Google Maps constantly in my free time to conceptualize where I’m going to travel to next.

Get a Lay of the Geography Before Your Trip

Get a bird’s eye view of the place before you travel.

It’s easy to get a concrete idea of where you’re going by doing some street views on Google Maps and leveraging the directions feature to know the best way to get from your hotel or airport to your key destination.

Save Your Favorite Travel Spots with a Heart or Flag Pin

This is a great way to create a curated list of your top go-to spots.

The best part?

When you’re traveling in another country, you won’t even need data. You can hook up to Wifi and start accessing the places you left off.

I did this A LOT when I was in Paris and didn’t have cellular data, just spotty WiFi.

Synch it With Your Phone Maps App

Once you’ve synched your Google account, you can access your saved locations whenever and wherever you want.

Leverage Canva or Print-Out Notes

I don’t like to use up my phone’s battery 24/7 by frequently looking at maps. The alternative is to print out visual copies of your directions, including your hotel address, contact numbers, and other critical information.

Having a physical, hard-copy backup in your hand while traveling is truly helpful. On the paper, I would list relevant reference numbers, help desk contacts, hotel security pin numbers for any locked gates, etc.
