Tulsa, Oklahoma is a great city to stop by and do a brief weekend trip. There are a few cool things to do in Oklahoma’s second-biggest city.
Before you go…
I don’t recommend that you go out of your way to visit Tulsa, Oklahoma. It’s not that great. Sorry. The roads are filled with potholes. Blistering, dry heat. Heavy traffic.
1. Philbrook Art Museum & Philbrook Gardens
This is the BEST reason to visit Tulsa, Oklahoma. The museum is surprisingly pleasant, quaint and cozy. It doesn’t hold a candle to my favorite museum in America – The Nelson-Atkins Museum. But it’s still good.
The Philbrook Gardens just outside are the main attraction, in my opinion, showcasing beautiful teal-colored pools and clean walking paths among well-manicured brush. There’s also a place to have coffee.
2. Tulsa Zoo
Smaller paths make is seem really packed with people – even when it’s empty! But this zoo is a lot of fun and great if you have kids (or if you don’t, frankly).
3. Tulsa’s Gathering Place Park
It’s a riverfront park with a lot of family activities. If you don’t have kids, you’re probably not interested. But here’s why you should be.
It’s an awesome way to spend your afternoon sitting at a park bench and eating something you picked up at one of the countless food trucks in Tulsa.
The alternative? Go on a nearby hiking trail: Turkey Mountain
